“My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast! 

I will sing and make melody!

Awake, my glory!  Awake, O harp and lyre! 

I will awaken the dawn!

 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples:  I will sing praises to you among the nations.  For your steadfast love is great to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. 

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! 

Let your glory be over all the earth!”  

Psalm 54:7 –10

Steadfast.  According to the dictionary, this word means to be fixed in direction; firm in purpose; unwavering; firmly established.  The psalmist is declaring that ‘no matter what’ his praise to God is unwavering.  Circumstances won’t dictate where his heart is focused.

It seems that we are living in times that call for a steadfast song.  Yes, a song.  It is the time for those who love the Lord to lift up their voices and sing.  Today is the day to firmly commit to God our praise.  Awaken in me your glory Lord that I might declare your marvelous deeds.  Awaken in us thankful hearts, which turn to you Father because you are faithful.

When we sing praises to God, we echo heaven.  We sing the song of the redeemed spoken of in Revelation.  We join our voices with the saints through the ages and those who already live in the presence of Almighty God.  We join the great cloud of witnesses described in the book of Hebrews. 

Be steadfast in your song this season.  It is the season to celebrate the greatest song of all, “Immanuel, Immanuel, His name is called Immanuel.  God with us, revealed in us, His name is called Immanuel.”

Joy to the world, the Lord is come.  Join the chorus of those around the world today who are steadfast in their song of praise and thanksgiving for the Light has come to give us LIFE!

“Be exalted O God among the nations and let your glory be over all the earth.”
