In this issue of HIS World News you will learn about the actions of our HIS Board’s annual meeting in February, an update on our missionary to Malawi, David Warriner,
plans for 2010, our soon to happen trip to Pakistan – a first for HIS - , the orphanage and its needs, as well as other topics. Pray as you read that the Lord will continue to guide, bless our way as we follow Him, and enable us to do what He calls us to do.
The HIS Board met on February 5th. Don Reynolds who has served as our treasurer after nearly 12 years of volunteer service resigned. We appreciate the tremendous amount of time Don has spent over the years. At this point the work of HIS has so increased that we have hired Esther Osborne by hourly contract as our HIS office administrator. She will handle all accounts, the newsletter that goes out quarterly and the monthly thank you letters to donors. The latter we also use as a monthly update letter. She also will handle all short term mission trip applicants, their visas, and their accounts. In addition she will work with me for our fall annual conference. We are transitioning the mail to our new address in Grand Island: HIS PO Box 5472 Grand Island, NE, 68802-5472.
In addition we accepted the application of David Warriner to be our missionary to Malawi. David left on February 1st. We have set up accounts for David’s travel fund, work fund and his monthly salary of $350. His travel fund and work fund are tax deductible. You can also donate to Abundant Life Christian Center, his home church.
We selected officers. Dr. Karl Hughes continues as president and chair of the exec. com; Glen Heitritter as vice-president and liaison to all communication projects; secretary is Gretchen Krause; Treasurer and Finance Director is John Randall; Pastor Steve Warriener is assist. Director of personnel; Pastor Keith Grimm is director of pastoral education; Alma Iwen is director of orphanage work; Ralph Spomer is director of HIS archives. Not on the Board, but continuing in their responsibilities are Karen Reynolds, director of HIS song; Ryan Brons, director of HIS web site; Doneta Doehling, director of foreign correspondence; and Colleen, director of Malawi Miracles. Pray for each of them in their responsibilities.
Radio:
We continue our broadcasting around the world and in 5 states in the US. Please read the excerpts that Doneta shares with you from the foreign mailbag. We are so blessed by what we are told by our listeners. It is great to know the Lord is using the airwaves for the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We continually challenge listeners to walk ever closer with Jesus as the Word goes out.
Trips:
Our trip to Pakistan is coming up quickly. We leave April 13 and return home April 22. Please pray for our visas – they are not easy to get. But as the Lord calls He provides.
Melanie will be teaching “Life in the Kingdom” at a women’s conference. Dr. Kathy will be preaching 3 nights of crusades on “The Second Coming of Christ.” This was their request. How timely as we see the world becoming more and more in economic downward spirals.
Other trips include: Russia June 8 to June 8 to June 22. We only have four of us. The Russian Church has asked us to bring a musical group. Do we have a group out there who would like to go? This is their 15th celebration year and they love our music. Air fares are down this year. That music group can also reach out to youth in the orphanages.
Pray and join us.
We go to Malawi August 23 to Sept. 7. We have only 4 people so far for this. Sign up quickly as I learned today that the airfares to Johannesburg, South Africa, are only $1350.
A month ago they were $1900. We will be at our orphanage, Hope Children’s Centre, and we will be teaching pastors in the morning and holding crusades at night. There will be Vacation Bible School for the children in the morning, and classes for women. We need YOU to help us.
October 7th we leave for Nigeria and return home on the 19th. We need doctors, nurses, LPNs, PAs, nurse practioners to do medical clinics at the King of Kings Hospital for one
week. We need you to sign up now. We have 4 people signed up so far. Pray and Come. Two pastors and myself will be teaching pastors. We will attend Dr. Uma’s crusades one weekend, and be at the hospital one week.
David Warriner:
We had hoped to have an article from David, but his lap top was stolen. So he is unable
to write for this newsletter. We have had several short Emails from him. Things are going very well for them. He has been helping purchase things the children need. The big need at this time is for about $4800. to build a 5 bedroom house where David and Bishop Stephano and about 12 boys can live. They have been renting, but have been moved almost every month. We urgently need enough funds to rent the current house for 3 months. They want to be paid 3 months in advance. This will be about $600. If you are on Face Book you can go to my wall (Kathy Walk). We have posted several videos of the orphans there that David has sent us.
FALL CONFERENCE:
November 19 and 20 is the weekend here in Grand Island. Put it on your calendar for days of spiritual refreshing and teaching. This is the weekend before Thanksgiving. What a blessing to be spiritually filled the weekend before our Thanksgiving Day so that
we can celebrate with a right heart. Come and join us. You will be challenged and blessed. More details to follow. Watch for them on our website.
